One donor's story: Cindy Majzner
Cindy Majzner is our sister and was a permanent part of our lives, just like our Dad, our Mom, and our big sister. Her passing in 2018 was not unexpected, but it was traumatic. Cindy worked in the Blood Bank at Regions Hospital in St. Paul for over 20 years. As a Medical Technologist and Scientist, she understood the importance of dedication and precision. She had also worked for over 20 years at the Red Cross in Rare Blood Type procurement. As such, she was asking people weekly to share their most precious resource, their own blood, for the benefit of others. Upon her death we knew she was an organ donor, but we had to decide to honor that request. With her background in the medical profession and her lifelong service to others, it wasn’t a difficult choice. I know her eyes were used in two people to restore sight and her skin was used as well. We will miss you Cindy.
