One donor's story: Rachel Rudiger
I graduated from North Dakota State University in 2007 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Environmental Design and a Master’s in Architecture. Although born and raised a Minnesota girl, I currently reside on the west coast. After donating a kidney to my mother, I continue a busy lifestyle of working full time as a professional Architectural Project Manager, keeping active with recreational sports, and enjoying my free time with family and friends.
At the age of 19, donating a kidney to my mom was one of the most life changing and rewarding experiences in my life. When she became ill in 2003, her kidneys failed, and she began to live her life on dialysis. When you can’t imagine your life without someone, the decision to become a donor is easy. That July I donated my kidney to my mother. A gift of life that will never be forgotten, and a bond that will never be broken. To this day, we both remain healthy and my mother has shown no signs of rejecting the kidney. I love you mom!
