One donor's story: Terri Bloom
I’ve been married 41 years, have 3 daughters and 4 grandchildren. I lived in the Chicagoland area all my life until 13 years ago when my husband was transferred to Minnesota.
I am Director of Client Services and Operations for a Financial Planning Firm.
My family is my priority above all else. I adore my grandchildren. They provide a lot of joy and laughter.
My husband had sudden total kidney failure. He was on dialysis for about 1.5 years. Being in his late 50’s and very active, I saw how being on dialysis (and he was still working full time) effected his quality of life and mental attitude. Ultimately, it effects the entire family. I asked to be tested and being ‘compatible’, I became his donor 2 years ago.
He is doing well. I haven’t had any side effects or any changes to my body.
