My husband, who has diabetes, was dignose with kidney failure. His kidney failure was in the very last stages and he needed a kidney within a week’s time to stay alive. Since no one in his family was able to donate a kidney, I volunteered to be tested to donate a kidney. Testing came back and gave me the ok to donate and we had the transplant 4 days later and the rest is history.
