One donor's story: Jennifer Carter
Family is most important to me.
I became a donor after hearing the story of how my brother needed a kidney transplant. Not knowing the issues my brother was having initially, from a conversation with my sister-in-law she said he needed a kidney transplant. I finally spoke with him directly about the matter and he was telling me his story about how he came to the point of being in his situation. Constantly informed how he received some unsuccessful news of having a match from friends and family, I decided to test to see if I could be a match and sure enough I was. I tested without my brother knowing because I didn’t want him to hear any more discouraging news. Once I got the good news I finally informed him with the hopes to relieve stress from not only himself but his wife. With God on our side as well as the many prayers from friends and family for a successful surgery, two years later after a successful surgery I have heard nothing but great news that he is doing swell!
